Embracing a Bright Future

Solar Energy at Anchorage Presbyterian Church

The Story

In July 2023, Anchorage Presbyterian Church took a bold and faithful step toward sustainability by installing 85 solar panels on the roofs of our Fellowship Hall and church offices. This project reflects our commitment to creation care, faithful stewardship, and forward-looking leadership.

Approved by the Anchorage Historic Preservation Commission and thoughtfully designed to maintain the beauty of our historic sanctuary, the solar panels are minimally visible from the street and do not alter the sanctuary roof. They serve as a visible and powerful witness to our values.

Why

Why Solar?

This decision was guided by four core principles:

Financial Stewardship
With energy costs reduced by approximately 30% since installation, we are freeing up funds for mission, ministry, and congregational needs.

Investment in the Future
The panels will provide clean energy for decades to come, making them a lasting, cost-effective investment in our church’s future.

Environmental Responsibility
As stewards of God’s creation, we are called to reduce our carbon footprint and care for the earth. Solar energy is a faithful response to that call.

Educational Impact
Our solar initiative invites conversation and learning across generations, offering a tangible example of renewable energy and responsible living.

Monitor

Monitor Our Energy in Real Time

Curious about how our solar panels are performing? You can track our energy generation in real time through our solar monitoring platform.

Whether you're a member, visitor, or neighbor, we invite you to explore how our panels are making a difference every day.

Lasting Legacy

Leave a Lasting Legacy

We invited members of the congregation to sponsor individual solar panels, a way to honor loved ones, support sustainability, and leave a meaningful legacy. Each panel represents a shared investment in our church, our community, and our planet.
